Located in a splendidly renovated building dating back to 1908, the Handlery merges turn-of-the-century grace and elegance with contemporary decor and sophistication. Handlery Hotels Inc. was founded in 1928 by Harry Handlery who purchased The Handlery Union Square Hotel in 1948 where four generations of Handlery family members have welcomed guests to this inviting gem surrounded by San Francisco’s most iconic landmarks.

Travel Green

The Handlery Hotels have adopted practices that promote reduction, reuse and recycling. Our green practices include: 100% post consumer recycled toilet paper and recycled facial tissue; compact fluorescent light fixtures in all guestrooms; green cleaning products and detergents; recycle toner cartridges from laser printers, electronics, light bulbs and batteries with certified recycling centers; an "in-house" recycling program for office paper; installed 1.6 gallon low flow toilets and low flow shower heads in all guestrooms; implemented bed linen/bath towel laundry conservation program where we only launder/change sheets at guest request and at check-out; and, replaced disposable cups with washable drinking glasses for employee lunchrooms.

Policies

  • Check-in Time: 3:00 PM
  • Check-out Time: 12:00 PM
  • Valet Parking: $52.00 per day
  • Pet Policy: Dogs only are permitted. One dog per room, 40lb. weight limit. Non-refundable dog fee of $25.00 per day. Also, a $250 deposit will be collected at time of check-in and will be refunded upon room inspection if no damage is discovered. Guests must also sign a liability waiver.
  • Oversize vehicle parking: $10.00 additional
